67 out of 308,000 People can Make a Difference in 2018

Wow, 2017 has been such a changing year for our little program! Since early 2016 we have grown from a one man band into becoming a non-profit organization, increased our monthly bag creations and took on volunteers to help pass them out.

We also started a great Go Fund Me campaign asking to raise $1,200 or $100 a month for 12 months. While we only raised $775 of the $1,200 it gave us enough funds to work through the end of 2017.

We applied for our 503(c)(3) non profit status and we are working on getting that literally any day now. (The paperwork alone could make a 1040 tax form look easy, trust me!)

We also just completed our first fundraiser, a bingo night held at Layman Church. Our goal was to raise just $300, well we went over, WAY over and raised $890! Through the community Blessing Bags has raised a little over $1,600 this year!

For 2018, our goal is a pretty simple one, to raise $4,000. We are asking 67 people to help us by giving just $5 a month, that's $60 a year. Yes, JUST 67 out of nearly 308,000 in the Roanoke Valley.

We've started a membership for those that want to help our cause and it's just a mere $5 a month. That's less than the cost of a fancy latte, a typical combo meal or cost of a movie ticket.

Our goal is to have 67 people in the Roanoke Valley commit to just $5 a month through our PayPal membership subscription. Yes, just 67. Obviously we would love to have MORE than 67 people but that's all we are asking for in 2018.

We recently reached out to Amazon.com and we are currently working on getting deep discounts for items that we need for our bags including, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo/conditioner, hand wipes, etc. Through this wonderful partnership, we should be able to lower the cost of a bag from $5 to about $2 per bag for next year.

Additionally, we are going to setup with Smile.Amazon.com in order for people to shop and help fund us simply by shopping at Amazon.com. It's a way to help push funds to us by shopping as you normally do.

We're very excited to see what waits for us in 2018! We are reaching out to more people and we've seen some positive growth in helping those less fortunate than you or I.  Thank YOU so much for helping get us through 2017 friends and we look forward to help people grow in 2018!
